Nestled deep within the southern Japanese Alps' Mt. Kaikomagatake you will find Hakushu. A place so renowned for the pristine waters that flow from the Ojiragawa River, it has been designated by Japan's Ministry of the Environment as one of the best tasting natural mineral waters in the country. Since its foundation in 1973, the Hakushu Distillery has been crafting fine malt whiskies from this pure natural spring water. First, the whisky is fermented in wooden wash backs before being distilled in direct-fired pot stills. The key malts are then slowly aged in wooden casks as they lie in the shadow of the bountiful surrounding forest. Hakushu 12 Years is a pure single malt whisky made from carefully selected Hakushu malts that have been aged for more than 12 years. Its refreshing leafy, citrus aromas with a clean, dry taste are neatly topped off with a slightly smoky finish. Try it straight up for a taste of pure satisfaction. |
